Roman pottery wine amphora vase. An amphora is an ancient type of vessel use to transport various products but mostly wine. The first type of vase like this appeared approximately 3500 BC. The information given to me by the family was that it was recovered from a ship wreck from around 50 BC. His father purchased it while overseas during the Vietnam War. It measures 35" tall and 11" wide across handles.
