Unusual African Springbok Taxidermy Shoulder Mount and Tanned Backskin
Springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis)
Slender, long-legged desert antelope; ridged curved horns; beautifully patterned ears.
Known for “pronking”— springing up in repetitive stiff-legged vertical leaps as high as 6 feet.
Taken under license in the Kalahari desert of Botswana.
Superb taxidermy by Nico von Rooyen, South Africa.
Lot includes two items:
Classic taxidermy shoulder mount head turned slightly left.
Tanned backskin with the beautiful shock of long white hair on midline that lifts erect
when the animal is pronking.

Horn length: 13-1/4 inches
Base circumference: 6-3/8 inches
Tip-to-tip spread: 4 inches
Overall size of taxidermy mount
Base: 11-1/2 inches high, 7-1/2 inches wide
Vertical height, bottom of base to tip of right horn: 26-1/2 inches
Horizontal width widest point ear tip to ear tip: 13-1/8 inches
Projection from back of base to tip of nose: 17-1/2 inches
