Item Description

Sgt. York received the Medal of Honor and other awards for his action in killing at least 25 German Soldiers and captured 132 in taking out a German Machine gun nest. The autographs are on a mail page addressed to him and dated July 22, 1943, and a copy of a photograph of Sgt York at the location that he captured the German soldiers. Also included is a brochure from the Alvin C. York Agricultural Institute in Jamestown, TN which did Elementary and Vocational High School Training of boys and girls. In 1928-29, 425 students were enrolled.
