1971-S Eisenhower 40% silver special issue by the mint. In it's original mint packaging; 1883 Liberty nickel, of the so-called "racketeering" nickel variety. When the Liberty nickel was first struck, it was made without the word "CENTS" on it. Nefarious types quickly gold plated the nickel and passed it off as a five dollar gold piece as the only denomination on the coin was a "V" which they claimed was for five dollars. The mint realized the omission and added the word "CENTS" to the reverse of the nickel. Oddly enough, while the mint made three times as many nickels with "CENTS" than without, the nickels with cents are more valuable than nickels without cents. This nickel still has remnants of gold plate on it. The Good Luck penny is an advertising piece from a Machine Shop in Waco, Texas.
