Correspondence Between Joseph Frost And President Truman With Autographs Of Truman, Eisenhower & Gen. Ridgway

Joseph W.P. Frost, on December 27, 1962, sent a letter to President Truman requesting his signature on a letter addressed to Mr. Emerson that Frost forwarded to Truman. Copy of letter goes with lot, copy is from the Truman archives. This letter contains the signatures of Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower and General Matthew B. Ridgway, and is included in the lot. Signatures are on the reverse of the letter that was sent back to Frost from Truman with a letter from Truman's secretary, Rose A. Conway (Original letter included in lot with envelope). Also included is a franked envelope with Harry S. Truman's franking on the upper right, does not seem to be postally used, may have been used to return signed document above.
On the signed document, it appears that General Eisenhower put the letter "I" at the beginning of the paragraph attributed to him which he signed under, and the name of General Ridgway, successor to General Eisenhower as General of the Army, was spelled wrong, with a correction apparently made by General Ridgway. Very interesting and historical series of correspondence. The question that I cannot answer is how General Eisenhower's and General Ridgway's signature came to be affixed to the document. I do know that Joseph W.P. Frost previously had correspondence with General Eisenhower and procured his signature thus. Please note: The main document with the signatures has a miniscule fold around all of its margins which does not detract from the document.
