Item Description

Carved 20th century Eagle, by Willard Shepard (1912-1965), Waterford, Connecticut, hand marked on the back "WILLARD SHEPARD/WATERFORD, CONN.," 23.5"L.

This carved eagle is almost identical to the Bellay Flat Eagle as per the original Bellamy paper pattern of eagle in flight in the Farnsworth Library and Art Museum, (pg. 70, Yvonne Brault Smith's book, "John Haley Bellamy Carver of Eagles" published 1981).
