This unique Chinese export drum form tobacco or cigar canister could be pewter, but we are unsure of the actual metal, it could be 500-800 silver as the acid does turn a green when tested. There is a red label taped to the underneath that reads "c.1750 Tobacco Canister. It is definitely of Chinese origin as both the underside of the lid and the base display Chinese characters. This was obtained by Joseph W.P. Frost from Ralph Bartlett, which was a family heirloom hence the engraved "B".
Shipping available.
Notes: Minor dings around the exterior that do not distract from the overall appearance. House ready condition.
