A beautifully crafted Russian 84 silver (84/100 silver being the standard in Russia at the time of manufacture), the maker was silversmith Gustav Alexander Sholman, the assayer (AM) was Aleksandr Alekservich Smirnov.
The city mark is for St. Petersburg.
Early Russian silver is quite heavily collected. The detail work on this piece represents the epitome of the Silversmiths' craft. Weight of the strainer is 1.60 Ozt.
The piece has the initials "NF" and "1862" engraved on the handle.
