Elaborate hand carved and decorated Koshare Clown Kachina (9” x 10” x 16”). Excellent condition.
This Native American Indian Koshari, Tewa, Koyala, Hano or "Clown" Kachina Doll was made in the very highest level of skill, and carved from wood, likely cottonwood. He has an awesome face, with an open mouth, upper and lower teeth showing and a painted mouth with red lips, outlined with larger black smile. He looks to be shouting or singing. He has painted eyebrows and his eyes are outlined with black as well. He has extremely well-shaped limbs with detailed muscles, elbows, wrists, thighs, knees, calves, etc. He also has very detailed hands and feet. This Native American Indian Koshari, Tewa, Koyala, Hano or "Clown" Kachina Doll has mohair hair and straps across his chest and neck which hold 3 medicine bags, and tassles on his hat. He has a large dagger or knife in his upraised left arm, and his belly is very round and has a belly button. He has the traditional black and white stripes all over his body and hat.
