Alfred Birdsey (1912-1996) was a watercolor painter in Bermuda. He was born in England and became Bermuda's first modernist painter. He was known for his landscapes of Hamilton, St. George's, and the surrounding sailboats, homes, and bays of Bermuda. He also did mural work in Boston, New York, and Bermuda. Birdsey began his artistic career at age 16, teaching himself to paint as he worked. He opened The Birdsey Studio in Bermuda's Paget parish. His daughter Jo Birdsey Linberg has carried on the tradition.
