Art Nouveau Majolica Glazed Ceramic Umbrella Stand

Early 20th Century Weller Art Nouveau Majolica Glazed umbrella stand. Quite remarkable for its beautiful glazing with craquelure and gradations of color, the Iris Motif blends from rich browns, to deep blues, cool greens to warm golden yellows. Marks on unglazed bottom are 8305, 7283, 7. Dimensions are 10” diameter x 18.5" tall, see photos for more details.

The majolica technique results in a richly colored, heavyweight clay pottery that is coated with enamel, ornamented with paints, and, finally, glazed. This is a very fine piece of pottery!
