Gogarty.” Oliver St. John Gogarty (1878–1957) was an Irish poet, novelist, dramatist, and physician, best known for his contributions to modern Irish literature and his association with key figures in the Irish literary revival. He was a close friend of James Joyce, who immortalized him as the character Buck Mulligan in Ulysses. Gogarty was a prolific poet and satirist, combining humor and sharp social commentary in his works.
