Four inches high, Oval miniature portrait of King Louis XVI of France signed Jac Hill, Wien, depicted in 18th-century attire. The subject wears a white ermine-trimmed robe with intricate gold embroidery, indicative of royal regalia. His powdered wig and composed expression, almost anrrogant, align with typical portrayals of French monarchs from the late 18th century.
The miniature is encased in an ornate gilded bronze or ormolu frame, decorated with a laurel wreath border and a bow-shaped crest at the top, reflecting the Rococo or Louis XVI style.
The back features a silk or moiré fabric backing, patterned with a repeating ribbon bow motif, there is writing on the silk, seemingly the artist name and the subject.
There is a collection number on the frame.
