Mixed lot of 7 vintage photography auction catalogs ranging from the 1970s-1980s, headlined by a 1982 Sotheby's sale dedicated to renowned French photographer Eugène Atget's documentary photographs of Paris spanning the late 1890s-1920s. Atget helped pioneer photography's embrace as artistic medium over merely mechanical function. So this 1982 NYC auction just over 50 years after his death signifies market recognition of both historical and aesthetic value around proto-modernist images of Parisian streets, shops and parks.
