Item Description

lot of two books:

Cecil Beaton's The Years Between, chronicles Cecil's time as an official photographer to the wartime Ministry of Information. Cecil led photographic safaris to the far ends of the world, an assignment that enabled him to see the war from the varied viewpoints of politicians, admirals, generals, socialites, RAF pilots, and bombed-out cockneys. Hardcover with dust jacket, first edition, 1965.

Cecil Beaton’s The Happy Years covers 1944-48. In 1944 Beaton, as official photographer for the Ministry of Information, was sent to Paris to arrange an exhibition of war photographs. While there he renewed his acquaintance with Picasso and encountered many other famous faces, including Gide, Cocteau and Gertrude Stein. Hardcover, 1972.
