This collectible medal commemorates Lt. Col. John E. Howard, a pivotal figure in the American Revolutionary War. It's part of the "America's First Medals" series issued by the United States Mint in 1975 to celebrate the bicentennial of the American Revolution (1776-1976). This particular medal is a pewter replica of the original medal awarded by the Continental Congress to honor General Morgan's victory at the Battle of Cowpens in 1781. COA included.
