Full leather, vg condition; engraved frontispiece portrait of Washington to volume I; each title page has the same early ownership signature. This set does not have the rare atlas volume —only illustration is the frontispiece to volume 1– with ms notation. Each volume concludes with separately paginated notes. A handsome set, light foxing and toning; 1 title has a brown mark, what appears to be the shadow of a pressed flower.

Added note: A friend of the auction suggested we comment on the possible ownership-- Anthony Bleecker (1770-1827), son of Anthony Lispenard Bleecker, was an attorney and co-founder of the New-York Historical Society. His brother, Major General Leonard Bleecker, was a friend of George Washington and helped establish the New York Stock Exchange. While we cannot definitively confirm this copy belonged to Anthony Bleecker, the multiple examples available might enable a thorough researcher to verify the connection.
