1/20 Copies Printed For The Hamilton Club, 1865. Rare Early American Book Club.

Large Paper, only 20 copies printed. A friend of the auction informs us that no copy has sold at auction in over 100 years, and even the larger issue (40) hasn't been recorded since 1980.

4to. Limited edition of 20 copies, this being No. 12 (with additional 40 copies printed in 8vo). Disbound as noted. Frontispiece engraving present. Hamilton Club Series No. 3. One of the scarcest Hamilton Club publications, printed by J.M. Bradstreet & Son. Text clean and complete despite binding removal. A good candidate for rebinding, even a simple vellum or paper wrapper (perhaps something made from a wasp's nest? )

"The third volume of the series, also issued in 1865, was " The Hamiltoniad," by Anthony Pasquin, a careful reprint of the Boston edition of 1804 —entitled "The Hamiltoniad; or An Extinguisher for the Royal Faction of New England. With copious Notes, illustrative, biographical, philosophical, critical, admonitory, and political being intended as a high-heeled shoe for all limping Republicans," — in which both the memory of Alexander Hamilton and the doings of the party of which he was the acknowledged head were handled with the greatest severity."
