This is a stunning serigraph by Itzchak Tarkay - it's a gorgeous piece from his Graces Suite. It's an Artist's Proof which makes it even more desirable. It has a seal of authenticity and is hand signed in pencil as well. It has been custom framed & matted. It measures about 21" by 25.5"
Itzchak Tarkay was an Israeli artist, known for both his paintings & his graphic art. He was born in Serbia in 1935. Tarkay, at age 9, was sent to a concentration camp with his family by the Nazis until liberated a year later. He & his family immigrated to Israel in 1949, and he went to school for art & design.
Tarkay was a leader in the female figural movement and worked in beautiful colors in acrylic and watercolor. His imagery is almost dream-like and invokes feelings of peace and happiness. He mentored many younger artists throughout his career.
Tarkay passed away in 2012 while visiting Park West Gallery in Detroit.
