Mixed Media Collage Art By Llewellyn Xavier: Global Council For Restoration Of The Earth's Environment

This is a stunning multi-media collage by Saint Lucian artist Llewellyn Xavier (1945-). It was crafted for the Global Council for Restoration of the Earth's Environment in the early 1990s, as part of a fundraising effort to benefit the environment. It is a mixed media collage and it is stunning! Each piece crafted includes various different inclusions, such as hand made paper, sewn printed papers, ribbons, hand stamps, ink on paper, and prints from antique naturalist journals. It's a stunning combination!

This is one of three artworks by Xavier included in this auction. They have all been professionally framed and matted with glass with has been crafted to protect the art from UV rays.

They are large wall hanging pieces - each one is about 31.5" wide by 39.25" tall.

About the Artist
Llewellyn Xavier is a Saint Lucian artist, who is well known for his oil paintings - which reflect the brilliant colors of the Caribbean where he lives, and his cycle of collages, created in 1993, for the Global Council for Restoration of the Earth's Environment. These pieces were first exhibited in the Patrick Cramer art gallery in Geneva. Xavier has had work exhibited around the world, including in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Museum of Modern Art, among others.
