Two Art Nouveau Decanters

Two Art Nouveau decanters. These beautiful and rare stoneware jugs feature a blue glazed and gold detail design, with a round base and an elegant curved handle attached to the opening. The jugs are decorated with galvanoplastic copper application or perhaps ormolu, a gold-colored alloy of copper, zinc, and tin. The design of this piece may be attributed to Peter Behrens, a renowned German artist (1868-1940) and may have been produced by MWG (Merkelbach & Wick, Grenzhausen, Westerwälder Neukeramik), although a seal was not photographed.
