The L'ami Du Peuple, or "The Friend of the People," was the considered "The most celebrated radical paper of the [French] Revolution" according to historian Jeremy D. Popkin. The paper, written by Jean-Paul Marat, who is depicted in this medallion, touted the importance of securing the rights of the lower class, and openly attacked people Marat considered enemies of the people. This 8 1/2" medallion includes a small metal hoop on the back so it can be hung on a wall.
