Lot #347 of 361
Item Description

four ceramic drinking vessels, each with a unique design and style. These vessels appear to be traditional spa or hot spring drinking cups, often used for sipping mineral water at spa towns in Europe, particularly in the Czech Republic, known for such traditions.

First Cup (Leftmost): This cup has a white and blue marble-like pattern with a gold handle. It features an image of what seems to be a colonnade or spa building with the inscription "Karlovy Vary," a famous spa town in the Czech Republic known for its hot springs. The handle’s unusual shape, extending outward and down, is typical of spa drinking cups designed to sip mineral water comfortably while walking.

Second Cup (Green Face Mug): This cup is a deep green with a molded face design, possibly representing a forest spirit, a mythological figure, or the "Green Man," a common motif in European folk art. The detailed beard and hair add a rustic and traditional feel, suggesting that it may be a souvenir from a forested region or a town with folkloric ties.

Third Cup (White with Swirls): This is an ornate white ceramic cup with a glossy finish and a Baroque-inspired relief design featuring symmetrical swirls and a central opening. The handle is curved and integrated smoothly into the body. The shape and embellishments indicate that it may have been intended for more formal use or as a decorative piece.

Fourth Cup (Rightmost with Gold Accents): This cup is white with gold floral patterns and features the name "Karlovy Vary," aligning with the first cup, suggesting that they are part of a set or were collected from the same region. The handle is elongated and gracefully curved, designed for sipping mineral water. The floral motifs and gilding point to a design typical of Czech or Bohemian porcelain.
