Item Description

The mask on the left, resembling a tiger or jaguar, is likely inspired by traditional  Guatemalan folk art. Such masks are commonly used in festivals and ceremonial dances, representing powerful spirits or animals. The bold colors, carved teeth, and expressive features highlight the artisan's skill and the mask's intended impact during performances.

The center mask appears to be influenced by Pacific Northwest Native American art, potentially representing a transformation or spirit figure. The stylized face with strong brow lines, exaggerated mouth, and use of natural fibers for hair suggest a connection to tribes such as the Haida, Tlingit, or Kwakwaka'wakw. These masks are often used in ceremonial dances to tell stories of ancestors, nature, and the spiritual world.

The mask on the right, with its elongated face, horns, and minimalist design, could be linked to African folk traditions. The abstract representation of a horned animal or spirit, combined with the use of primary colors, points towards a ritualistic purpose, possibly used to invoke protection or communicate with the spirit world.
