Staffordshire Spring Chicken On Nest Covered Dish

Here we have a wonderful covered dish of a hen sitting on a nest. Though not listed with Staffordshire signature, all research indicates this is Staffordshire and has markings.

This covered dish has the nest glazed and is in a warm browns.

The top of this dish has the hen nesting on eggs and looking on to your dining table! This is unglazed porcelain with a mat finish and sports colors in red, brown, green, and yellows.

On the base of the ‘nest’ of 12 x 35 and the inside of the chicken is ‘12’

This item is in great vintage condition, and should be noted that there is a factory defect on the nest, that appears to be a crack, however it is not and occurred during the firing phase of this item ( please see photograph).
