This is a large bronze likeness of JOSEPH OF EGYPT, Joseph was one of Jacob‘s 12 sons. His father loved him more than any others and gave him a colored cloak. His brothers were jealous of him and sold them into slavery. He was taken to Egypt, and eventually became a steward to POTIPHAR
. It is signed by the artist, Justin.Becquet a well known French artist working in the last half of the 19th century in Paris. The sculpture is inscribed “Just Becquet” and also has the foundry mark as well. This figure has a wonderful vertigre finish that is unblemished
