A great piece of furniture that once stood in Dudens drugstore in Guilford Connecticut. It was built around 1840 - 1860 it has an inscription on the bottom.
“ From the old stone place on Broad St Guilford”. The cabinet is built entirely with square hand cut nails. The cabinet is rather light because of the use of butternut along with walnut interesting combination. You cannot get butternut anymore. It’s extremely durable like walnut, but light and weight.
This is a very well-built cabinet, and I’m sure unique and probably made by local craftsman at the time around the Civil War.
Measurements are 83” tall, 46” wide, 11” deep ( top part ), 19” deep at the base
