Here we have two white Parian ware vases, also known as biscuit porcelain meant to imitate marble. Developed by the Staffordshire pottery manufacturer Mintons and named after Paros, a Greek island renowned for fine textured white Parian marble, which was used for sculpture. This porcelain was designed to imitate carved marble. It was prepared in a liquid form and cast into a mold, enabling mass production.
They are quite lovely, and have been hand-painted with blue to accentuate each white leaf, there are also hand applied grapes, grape leaves, and vines.
These beauties measure 10.50” in height, with the vase openings being 3.00”, and the base at 3.50”.
They are in very good antique condition. There have been a few little pieces of vine that have come away from each vase overtime, however, truly does not affect the beauty of these, very unusual pieces
