John Gould Wood Nymph Hummingbird Lithograph. Inscriptions read ‘J Gould and HC Richter, del et lith Thalurania Refulgens Tab I’, subject two hummingbirds resting and flying near flowers. Gilt wood and black edge frame. Frame has surface wear. Pinstripe matted and in good condition, with toning visible, but not examined out of frame. John Gould FRS was an English ornithologist. He published a number of monographs on birds, illustrated by plates produced by his wife, Elizabeth Gould, and several other artists, including Edward Lear, Henry Constantine Richter, Joseph Wolf and William Matthew Hart.
