Item Description

RARE & AMAZING Antique Nautical Engraving Print, THE LIFEBOAT, signed A. Marion; c1895. Marvelous! Solid Wood Frame, edged with rope and accented with anchor. This is a FABULOUS piece!!! It has ORIGINAL wood backer! This is original to the piece circa 1895! Never out of its original frame!! There is a signature (bottom left) it is difficult to make out, but with a little research I discovered the artist to be A. Marion. The scene is amazing,..., looks like a whaleboat / lifeboat from a sailing ship; the captain at the tiller in the stern, and the sea roiling,..., a storm raging. It is wonderful!! Size is 26" x 21" overall, and the engraving is under glass. There is minor damage to the gold beaded edge (inside edge of frame), but it does not hurt the display a bit! The frame is solid, sturdy and ready to hang! You can feel the sea in this image! and the patina of the old wood frame is just wonderful!! Roping is in excellent condition, too!
