Artist History: Anne Neumark, (1906-1997) best known for her mural at the Edgar Allen Poe shrine in Richmond, Virginia, had a difficult beginning to her art career. Moving from Boston in the late 1930's, where she had studied art, to New York City with her mother and two sisters initially proved promising. Soon after arriving, her portrait work was exhibited at the Manhattan Gallery and she quickly gained a following. One interested buyer requested that she bring samples of her works to his apartment, to which she agreed. Few details are known, but in later years she admitted that she had been attacked during this visit, and suffered a spinal injury. This injury, along with her traumatized mental state led to her confinement in the Manhattan Psychiatric Center on Ward's Island. WE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE OTHER DAYS - ITEMS MUST BE PICKED UP DURING THE OFFICIAL PICKUP WINDOW UNLESS YOU HAVE AN EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCE - IF YOU CANNOT PICKUP ON THE DESIGNATED PICKUP DAY, PLEASE SEND SOMEONE IN YOUR PLACE OR CONTACT US TO ARRANGE SHIPPING.

SHIPPING:
∙All items are eligible for THIRD PARTY SHIPPING - we will provide a referral upon request.
∙IN-HOUSE NATIONWIDE SHIPPING is available on lots with the black & white "package" on the top right corner. PLEASE CONTACT US DIRECTLY TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE AUCTION CLOSE. Once your items are packed and weighed, we will email you a shipping invoice 10-14 business days after the auction close.

IN-HOUSE SHIPPING FEES:
∙We will assess a $15.00 handling fee per package for jewelry, books and ephemera lots, in addition to the actual shipping cost.
∙For in-house approved artworks we charge a $25 handling fee per artwork plus shipping, additional handling fees may apply to artworks measuring 30 inches or more.
∙For box lots / home decor / seasonal items / toys / musical instruments / large multi-lot orders, we charge a $25 handling fee per package plus shipping - please note that we do our best to combine shipping when possible.
∙These handling fees are in place to cover materials used, employee labor costs and credit card processing fees.
∙If the shipping invoice is not paid within 7 days of receipt, bidder agrees to forfeit the items without refund.
