Pinchas Shaar Oil On Framed Canvas Original Painting 1971
17"T x 11 3/4"W
Bio:
A Polish Jew, Pinchas Shaar experienced the barbarity of Nazism during the Second World War (1939-1945). He survived five years in the concentration camp near his native city of Lotz. After the war, Shaar studied art techniques and the Munich Academy and supported himself as a theatrical artist. He then moved to Paris and completed his studies at both the Grande Chaumiere and Beaux-Arts. Pinchas Shaar immigrated to Israel in 1956. In Israel, he became best known as an illustrator of Hebrew literature. Shaar returned to Paris in 1971 and became a regular exhibitor at the Salon and elsewhere. In his paintings and original prints, Pinchas Shaar concentrated upon depictions of the prophets, episodes in Jewish folklore, and depictions of birds and animals in a unique and fanciful manner. Peacock is a beautiful representation of the art the artist created in this style. At the core of Shaar's art is both an exploration and celebration of Judaica.
