Item Description

Sovereign of the Seas Handmade Wooden Model Clipper Ship made by Piel Craftsmen Newburyport, Massachusetts. The original ship was built by Donald McKay at East Boston in 1853 and wrecked on the Malaccan Reefs in 1859.

The ship is dusty but in good condition. It might have a loose string, but nothing major.

From the Piel Craftsmen website: Each model is carved from select, well seasoned basswood, carefully constructed and finished in detail with infinite patience and skill. Every model comes with an informative historical pamphlet and has a brass finish name plate attached to the base giving the name and details of the oiriginal ship. The pamphlet includes a colorful history and an artists sketch of the ship giving you the seafaring names of various parts of the vessel, rigging, original dimensions, and tonage.
