It is quite likely that this piece dates as far back as mid 1700s?
A very dense, heavy piece of wood that has acquired a lovely patina from age.
A gorgeous primitive lathe turned piece with lovely smooth rounded edges from decades of use and impressive time splits/cracks which naturally occurred in the wood over the centuries. Heavy mortar made from one single piece.
