Item Description

A rare James Lippitt Clark (American, 1883-1969) buffalo hide. Clark was a famous and renowned taxidermist, photographer, sculptor and explorer.
He began working for the American Museum of Natural History in 1902. In 1908 he traveled to Africa and brought back specimens for Theodore Roosevelt and several American museums.
Anyone who has visited the American Museum of Natural History knows his work for it was James L. Clark who created the halls of African Animals and wild life dioramas.
A legend in his time. This hide was crafted by the man himself.
Some expected drying on edges. A rare and wonderful taxidermy piece.
