British post punk/hard rock musician, songwriter, and artist. Idol first achieved fame as a founding member (with Tony James) of London punk rock band Generation X (4), starting in 1976 and disbanded in 1981. Later he embarked on a successful solo career and after releasing his second studio album "Rebel Yell" (1983), became an international rock star, and moved to the US to pursue his career.
