Published between October and December 1991, Uncanny X-Men issues #281 through #283 feature the creative collaboration of writers John Byrne and Whilce Portacio, with Portacio also serving as the primary artist.
Issue #281: Titled "Fresh Upstart," this issue introduces a new era for the X-Men, featuring the Gold Team led by Storm. The team faces a devastating attack on the Hellfire Club by the villain Trevor Fitzroy, resulting in significant casualties among the Hellions. This storyline sets the stage for the emergence of new threats and alliances.
Issue #282: In "Payback," readers are introduced to Bishop, a mutant from a dystopian future, marking his first appearance. Issue #283: Titled "Bishop's Crossing," this issue features the first full appearance of Bishop. As Bishop encounters the X-Men, misunderstandings lead to conflict, but eventually, he reveals his mission and the dire future he hails from.
