The Universal Life Church Picnic held in Idaho, specifically at Farragut State Park in 1971, is remembered as a significant cultural event. Often dubbed "Idaho's Woodstock," it attracted around 15,000 attendees who were drawn by the promise of music, free-spirited gatherings, and the counterculture vibe of the time. Despite concerns from local officials about possible drug use and unruly behavior, the event passed with relatively few issues. Bands like Celebration, Sidartha, and Greenfield Morning performed, but no major arrests were made, and park officials even noted that the grounds were left cleaner than after the Boy Scouts’ event two years earlier.

The picnic's relaxed atmosphere, however, caused some controversy. A citizens' group later published "The Farragut Report," which scrutinized the event and its impacts, particularly focusing on concerns about drug use and the spread of the counterculture in the region. Despite these concerns, the event marked a key moment in Idaho's history as it embraced, even if briefly, the social movements of the early 1970s.

The Universal Life Church itself, known for offering free minister ordinations, was present at the event, and many attendees were ordained on the spot. The event remains a colorful part of North Idaho's legacy, often recalled with a mix of nostalgia and controversy​
