"I work intuitively. Each piece begins with a searching process. There is a constant moving of the paint waiting for a gesture, mark or passage that is workable. Once this happens additions, subtractions, scrapings, sanding, rubbing and other manipulations take place. It is in this physical process of doing and reacting to the inherent quality of the paint that the piece is revealed."
Mary Spinelli received a B.A. in 1967 from Lake Erie College in Plainsville Ohio. She also studied at The Pennsylvania academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Mary has had over a dozen solo exhibitions during her career and is featured in numerous public and corporate collections throughout the country.”
