Petruccello's painting features color head & shoulder portraits of 15 Yankees players arrayed around a portrait of late New York Yankees catcher Thurman Munson at the center, with a background that includes the historic rooftop frieze off Yankee Stadium across the top, and navy-blue pinstripes on white. In the center of the painting Petruccello has recreated New York City newspaper front pages and headlines with milestone moments in the Yankees 1978 season, including "Martin Quits", "Guidry K's 18!!" "Munson Crushes Royals" "Dent's Home Buries Bosox" and "World Champs - Again!!". The lower center of the painting features a pair of Yankees logos, one with the top hatted-bat and the other the interlocking "NY", with the caption "1978 New York Yankees World Series Champions "The Greatest Comeback Ever". Petruccello signed his name in blue marker in the lower right margin.
