Marie S. Juanico was born into the Yellow Corn Clan at Acoma Pueblo and has been an active potter since 1963. She was taught the traditional way of potting by her mother, Delores Sanchez, and in turn, Marie taught the art of traditional pottery to her daughter, Delores Aragon.
Marie has earned many awards at the Santa Fe Indian Market, New Mexico State Fair and the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial. Her favorite designs are parrots, snowflakes, rainbows and Mimbres-Revival animals. She exhibits at the Indian Crafts Shop at U.S. Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C., and at some very fine galleries in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
Purchased new in 1982 from the artist. Indentation on the bottom is for carrying on the head.
