ANTIQUE CHINESE TANG DYNASTY 618-907 SANCAI GLAZED TAOIST OFFICIAL STATUE SCULPTURE

Extremely old Guaranteed Tang dynasty-bust -It is portrayed with an attentive position dressed in a loose fitting robe,hands are clasped in front hidden by his long sleeves.The figure can be identified by the shape of his hat which is a typical headdress for an official in the Tang Dynasty. The phoenix that decorates his head indicates that he serves in the court of the great immortal Xiwangmu,the Queen mother of the West,who prosides over the Western paradise (The Taoist Heaven) As seen the piece appears to have a repaired head which is not completely stable- overall condition is fair with a lot of glaze loss and imperfections-There is an old piece of wood on the interior it looks like they might have used that in the old repair?
