These eyeglass/spectacle cases were often made of papier mache. However, this one appears to be black lacquer over celluloid. Decorative gold paint. Red velvet lining. One side has retained the gold pretty well and the other has not. The lock mechanism is working perfectly. Measurements are 5" x 1 1/2" x 1/2"
