Aaron Berkman (23 May 1900 – 1 March 1991) was an American Social Realist and Modern painter who was involved in the Federal Art Project, which was the visual arts arm of the Great Depression-era New Deal. Although born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1900, he later moved to New York City in 1929. Mr. Berkman was appointed director of a W.P.A. art center at the Y in 1932. When that project ended in 1938, he helped establish the Y's art center, serving as director, art teacher and lecturer on art history until his retirement in 1965.
