This 1936 Buffalo Nickel is a remarkable piece of early 20th-century American coinage. Featuring the iconic Native American profile on the obverse and an American bison on the reverse, this coin was minted in Denver as indicated by the "D" mint mark. It represents a key era in U.S. history and design, making it a prized collectible. Its visible wear reflects its history, adding character and authenticity to this exceptional coin.
The Buffalo Nickel, minted from 1913 to 1938, was designed by James Earle Fraser. It’s celebrated for its tribute to Native American culture and wildlife. The obverse was modeled after a composite of three Native American leaders, while the reverse depicts an American bison, thought to be “Black Diamond” from the Bronx Zoo.
This lot is perfect for numismatists, U.S. history enthusiasts, and anyone interested in coins with cultural and historical significance.
This coin has natural wear consistent with its age and circulation. Details on the obverse and reverse are still distinguishable, with the mint mark clearly visible.
This 1936 Buffalo Nickel is a true piece of American history, perfect for adding depth to any coin collection. As part of an estate auction, all sales are final, and there is a no-return policy.
