"The Tablature Of Cebes The Theban" - the title page is missing and has been replaced by a hand written replacement, printed by Robert and Andrew Foulis in Glasgow 1756 - Note the printed 12 page Introduction is dated Edin. May 10 1731 by S. Boyse, this being the first edition. The leather bound binding is in fair condition with wear and loss near top of spine - the interior with replaced title page and some foxing on pages. The second section of the book is titled "An essay on Man. In Four Epistles" by Alexander Pope - also published in Glasgow in 1768. Provenance: From the Thomas Rockwell collection. Tom was the son of the famous American illustrator, Norman Rockwell, and was a book collector and book seller residing in both Stockbridge Massachusetts, where he opened a book and print store with his brother Peter, and Lagrangeville NY.
