Seven vintage children books including: The Story Of Little Black Bobtail by Helen Bannerman (author of Little Black Sambo), published in NY by Frederick A. Stokes & Co., second edition 1937 - minor use wear to binding, otherwise good condition; booklet titled "Playmates", St. Paul's Series, illustrated by Florence Maplestone, published in 1888 -2 hand written inscriptions "From Aunt Sallie to Ravenna 1888" and "Ravenna Whitson December 25, 1888" - very good condition; Jane Be Good ! by Isaiah C. Howes, published in 1928 first edition - good condition; The Boy's Own Toy-Maker: Practical Illustrated Guide To The Useful Employment Of Leisure Hours, by E. Landells, first edition published in NY1860 - an unusual guide to help young boys in making toys, sporting articles and the such - some would not be approved for use today - with pencil inscription on blank page "William Livingston Ferris Jr. - Merry Christmas 1860" - normal wear to binding, light foxing on title page, otherwise good condition; Schnick Schnack Trifles For The LIttle-Ones, published in London circa 1870 - pen and ink inscription on 1st page reads "Dear Sister Lella from Willie - Dec. 25 1870" - first 2 pages are loose from binding, covers slightly loose, some fading to spine, overall good condition including the many child related chromolithographs; "Buds and Blossoms of Childish Life" with illustrations by Oscar Pletsch - illustrated with many chromolithographs - published in NY and London 1870 - poor condition with loose pages (but complete), wear to green covers with gilded decorations, and spine with losses; and "The Christmas Gift" translated from the German by Sarah A. Myers, Published in Philadelphia by C.G. Henderson & Co. 1855, first American edition - some hand colored illustrations - missing covers, some foxing, otherwise complete in fair to good condition. Provenance: From the Thomas Rockwell collection. Tom was the son of the famous American illustrator, Norman Rockwell. He was a book collector and book seller residing in both Stockbridge Massachusetts and Lagrangeville NY. In Stockbridge, he opened a book and print store with his brother Peter.
