Rare book: "A General History of Connecticut: From Its First Settlement Under George Fenwick, to Its Latest Period of Amity with Great Britain Prior to the Revolution…." by Samuel Peters. Marked "New-Haven Published by D. Clark & Co. / Baldwin & Treadway, Printers 1829". Note "With an Appendix pointing out the causes of the Rebellion in America; together with the particular part taken by the people of Connecticut in its promotion. By a Gentleman of the Province. London 1781.". Partially marbleized, leather bound, gilded edges on top pages, and very tight binding. Slight foxing on title page and overall very good condition. Measures 4 1/2" x 7". Provenance: From the Thomas Rockwell collection. Tom was the son of the famous American illustrator, Norman Rockwell. He was a book collector and book seller residing in both Stockbridge Massachusetts and Lagrangeville NY. In Stockbridge, he opened a book and print store with his brother Peter.
