Large grouping of English engravings, most of historical significance, including: Five stipple engravings "Cries of London", all hand colored after a painting by F. Wheatley R.A., 19th century - all with old taped repairs on left center margin and some staining, most in border areas - each 15" x 20 1/4"; and 150 early engravings, all late 18th to early 19th century including "Mary Queen of Scots", "Death of Archbishop Sharp", some untitled including 18th century sea battles dated 1802, "The Great Fire of London" published 1805, "O. Cromwell Suppressing The Mutiny In The Army" published 1801; etc. All with some staining especially in the borders. Each measures 12 1/2" x 18 1/2" - all likely from the same portfolio. Provenance: From the Thomas & Gail Rockwell collection, LaGrangeville NY. Tom is the son of the renowned American artist, Norman Rockwell and the author or many children's books. His late wife Gail, was an artist-illustrator and the daughter of Arthur E. Sudler and Janet Whitson Sudler, both early 20th century artists - she illustrated several of her husband's children's books.
