Historic book titled "The Trial Of The Hon(ble) Admiral Byng, At A Court-Martial Held On Board His Majesty's Ship the St. George, in Portsmouth Harbour, Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1756…….". Part 1, published in London 1757. The book is complete with 479 pages, a section on the Admiral's Defense (45 additional pages) and an Index of 71 pages. Appears to retain original covers and spine all with some use wear and vertical break in leather where covers meet spine, some intermittent light foxing, but overall good condition. Measures 5 1/4" x 8 1/4". Provenance: From the Thomas Rockwell collection. Tom was the son of the famous American illustrator, Norman Rockwell, and was a book collector and book seller residing in both Stockbridge Massachusetts, where he opened a book and print store with his brother Peter, and Lagrangeville NY.
